Hearing Tests
What to expect when you visit your Impact Hearing Practice
At Impact Hearing Practice we will never fit you with a hearing device on your first visit. Our purpose is to educate you, and help you through a process that involves reviewing results, your listening needs and our recommendations.
When you visit your Impact Hearing Practice there are four main areas of investigation, they are:
- Case History
- Otoscopy
- Tympanometry
- Audiometry
Following the interview, your audiologist will inspect your ears with an otoscope to assess whether or not your hearing problems may be related to external obstructions such as ear wax. If the ear canals are clear, a comprehensive audiological evaluation is then conducted.
After the evaluation has been completed, your audiologist will review the findings with you and if desired, any family members that are present. Your audiologist will explain the results of the test and its relationship to hearing, speech, and environmental sounds.
If a hearing loss has been diagnosed, we will discuss the prospect of obtaining help through the use of hearing aids and/or assistive listening devices. Factoring in your needs and lifestyle, we will recommend options for appropriate types and styles of hearing aids that are available and best-suited for your needs.
